Today a friend asked me how to plant strawberries. Do you plant seeds? Well, no. The best way to plant strawberries is to purchase strawberry plants from your local independent garden center. They are available now and throughout the spring season. Strawberry plants grow low to the ground and they have attractive white flowers and nice green foliage. They spread and send out baby plants each year. You will want to plant a number of plants in order to create a sizable patch. It's best to have enough strawberries to eat and share (and make jam and pie) - at least 8 or 12 plants to start with. Here is a link to a blog post I wrote about
