Blue Plumbago (sometimes called leadwort) is an awesome ground cover for the water wise Utah garden. In late summer and fall it is covered with deep blue flowers and as the weather turns cooler in September, the foliage turns red. It grows 8 - 12 inches tall and spreads 3 or 4 feet wide. Plumbago tolerates full sun or part shade and only needs supplemental water once a week during the hottest parts of summer, June through August. This is a perfect choice for a water wise parkstrip. Great in combination with
hardy ice plant and
silver tansy.
