We seem to be past the May cold snap and we can safely plant pumpkins, squash, cucumbers, basil and all other tender plants. Usually we plant tender crops after Mother's Day but some of the most cold-sensitive crops do best when planted closer to the end of May. I like to plant squash and cucumber seeds directly into the ground because they don't always like being transplanted (although that does work). Basil seeds can be sown now also. If you are planting seeds, remember to thin the seedlings according to the directions on the seed package. Good Luck!!
