Late summer is approaching in Utah and the warm-season ornamental grasses are starting to put on their show. They provide interest in the garden from late July all the way through the winter. Here is a photo of a stunning tall Miscanthus sinensis 'strictus' - porcupine grass - with striped leaves. In northern Utah, porcupine grass will reach 4 or 5 feet in height and 3 or 4 feet in width. It needs water only once a week during the hottest times of summer. Excellent for a water wise landscape! Here is a link to another post about
porcupine grass and zebra grass.
